Tancho Kohaku- white Koi with one red patch on head
Nidan- two-step Hi pattern
Sandan- three-step Hi pattern
Yondan- four-step Hi pattern
Godan- five-step Hi pattern
Inazuma- zig-zag Hi pattern down the length of the body
Kuchibeni- Hi (red) on the lips
Oh Moyo- large unbroken pattern from the head to the tail
Menkaburi- a Hood that covers the whole head often extending from the gills to the mouth



Bekko
Aka Bekko- red (hi) Koi with black patches
shiro Bekko- white Koi with black patches
Ki Bekko- yellow (ki) Koi with black patches
Doitsu Bekko- scale less

Utsuri
Shiro Utsuri- black Koi with a white pattern
Ki Utsuri- black Koi with a yellow pattern
Hi Utsuri- black Koi with a red pattern
Doitsu Utsuri- scale less



Tsubo-suni- when the black (sumi) is on the white
Kasane-sumi- when the black (sumi) is on the red (hi)
Kuchibeni- when there is red (hi)on the lips
Aka Sanke- when the red (hi) runs from head to tail
Doitsu Sanke- scale less
Tancho Sanke- white Koi with a red patch on the head and black patterns on the body



Nezu- silver gray metallic Koi
Platinum- white (platinum) metallic Koi
Yamabuki- yellow metallic Koi
Orenji- orange metallic Koi
Aka Matsuba or Hi Matsuba- red metallic Koi with a matsuba
gin matsuba- silver metallic Koi with a matsuba
Kin Matsuba- yellow metallic Koi with a matsuba
Doitsu Ogon- scale less

Hariwake- white metallic Koi with Orenji Hariwake or Yamabuki Hariwake
Yamato-nishiki- metallic Sanke usually doitsu
Kikusui- metallic doitsu Kohaku
Platinum Kohaku this is a metallic Kohaku
Kujako- white metallic Koi with red/orange pattern
Gin Bekko- metallic Shiro Bekko




Bloke Showa- back Koi with netlike pattern
Hi Showa- large hi (red) patch that runs from the head to the tail
Kindai Showa- thas more white on the body
Tancho Showa- black Koi with a red patch on the head and white patterns on the body



Note: Japanese Terms for Nishikigoi

hi- red only in patches
aka- red the whole fish
sumi- black only in patches
karasu- black the whole fish
nezu- gray
shiro- white
midori- green
ki- yellow
cha- brown
orenji- orange
beni- dark red
ai- indigo
kin- gold (yellow metallic)
gin- silver (white metallic)
matsuba- pine cone pattern
Bekko- black & white
Rin- shiny scale
doitsu- German scale-less or mirror carp

Combination of Gin(Metallic- Scaless or big scales) for Utsuri, Showa and Shiro



Kawarimono means basically includes BASIC INTENSE COLOR... combined with attach colors to beni (bellies) like karasu, benigoi, kigoi, magoi and pattern sumi (top view scale) like ochiba, soragoi, kumoryo, nidorigoi...



Combination of Kohako topped with black color above itself...



Asagi Family- stroke beni colors with red such as shushi- white such as hana- blue / orange + head & tail pectoral fins such as Asagi...
